Enterprise Network Security Assessment & Remediation Roadmap
Comprehensive security assessment across 47 firewalls, 200+ network devices, and multi-vendor security stack. Identified 73 risks, produced executive presentation, and delivered phased remediation roadmap with ROM.
The problem
The organization operated a complex multi-vendor security infrastructure: Palo Alto firewalls managed through Panorama, Zscaler ZIA for cloud security, Check Point gateways at remote sites, and Cisco ACI in the data center. Security policy had grown organically over years — rule bases were bloated, logging was inconsistent, and there was no clear segmentation between business units. The CISO needed a complete picture of the security posture, prioritized risks, and a realistic remediation plan before an upcoming board review.
The approach
We conducted a multi-source correlation analysis: device configurations (running-config, exported XML/JSON), Panorama policy stacks, Zscaler ZIA exports, network diagrams, and audit tool output (Citadel, Forward Networks). Every finding was classified by evidence level — corroborated by 2+ sources, single-source, inferred, or contradictory. We applied an architectural truth priority order (config > policy > observed patterns > diagrams > audit tool output) to resolve conflicts. The assessment produced 73 risks across 7 domains, an executive presentation with delivery script, and a phased remediation roadmap with rough-order-of-magnitude pricing.
Results
- 73 risks identified and prioritized across 7 security domains
- 47 firewalls analyzed with consolidated policy recommendations
- 60% of risks were invisible to existing audit tooling — a key finding that shaped tooling investment decisions
- Executive presentation delivered to CISO and board with 25-minute delivery script
- Phased remediation roadmap with ROM pricing and 12-month timeline
- Vendor-specific implementation guides for Palo Alto, Zscaler, and ACI
